Vrishti Tokas
1.
How many hours in a day, you use to devote for preparing this
subject?
I used to devote about an
hour to Business Studies daily after school. It is a theoretical subject and
thus requires constant hard work throughout the year. To develop a better
understanding ,it is always suggested to start learning the concepts from the
beginning of the session.
2.
Which books did you refer for the preparation of this subject?
I mostly relied on NCERT
textbooks which are prescribed by CBSE. I read it thoroughly along with some
topics ,that had been added in syllabus and were notified by my school teacher.
Apart from this ,I used a book by ‘Shiv Das' which has chapter wise ,marks wise
and year wise case studies along with comprehensive study material provided by
the school to reinforce learning.
3.
Tell us about your methodology for studying this subject?
Firstly ,I always gave a
thorough reading to each chapter and meanwhile ,underlined the important lines
and terms. Then, I made short and crisp
notes of every chapter which made learning easier and proved useful for
revision. And lastly, I attempted all the case studies and indirect questions
that have been asked in the previous years simultaneously after finishing each
chapter.
4.
What was your preparation strategy to tackle case studies?
Most of the paper comprises of case
studies that test the understanding and application skills of students. To
tackle them, I followed a strategy as devised by my school teacher to first
read the questions and then the case study. This helped me a lot. Reading the
questions helps us focus on those particular areas that have been asked in the
question while reading the case study. Thus ,it helps us to identify the
correct concept and its allied features, advantages and limitations etc. It
also minimises the chances of getting confused. Moreover ,I had practised many
case studies before the exam.
5.
Which Support material other than books, you used for your
preparation?
I used the ‘Supplementary
material’ issued by CBSE and the notes provided on the blog ‘www.bstclass12.blogspot.com’
for lengthy chapters like Organizing ,Staffing and Directing. Together with ,RSPL
sample papers are also worth attempting.
6.
What Tips and tricks would you like to share with students?
I feel that all the
school conducted exams should be taken very seriously. One should follow a
proper strategy for presenting the answers as well. The headings must be
highlighted followed by a suitable explanation divided in sub-points. All the
keywords should be highlighted. I find it better to start the paper from six markers,
then five markers and so on. This reverse order of answering questions helps us
to devote enough time to long answer questions as they should not lack content.
They can even be supported with diagrams, flow charts, stick figures etc . It
is equally important to practise one markers as they can be asked from in
between the lines of the textbook.
7.
In end , Please share your success mantra .
I made mind maps and tried
to jot down the important points after learning every concept. It is necessary
to practise some full length question
papers at home within the stipulated time to get used to the examination environment.
I had consulted my teacher ,whenever I faced any difficulty. Hard work and
determination can help overcome all odds. They are the secret behind any
success.
1.
How many hours in a day, you use to devote for preparing this
subject?
Since Business Studies was my favourite
subject, normally I used to go through it everyday for some time. But during
exams ,I used to sleep for only 6 hours and study the whole day! A constant
revision is required.
2.
Which books did you refer for the preparation of this subject?
NCERT is the key to all
the solutions . Thorough go through is very important for everyone. I also
practiced from previous year question papers and G S Alag’s book.
3.
Tell us about your methodology for studying this subject?
My methodology was to
make a mind map the chapter first which helped me to remember all the key
points.
Since Business Studies is
a theoretical subject it is necessary to study every day.
Generally students think
they can learn it in the end and will get good marks. But it’s not true. You need
to work consistenly throughout the year in
this subject. Because hard work pays off!!
4.
What was your preparation strategy to tackle case studies?
Tackling case studies is
not a tough task . I use to read it twice and tried to link it to the concepts.
You should always practice different types of case studies .
Also, you should be
thorough with the headings .
5.
Which Support material other than books, you used for your
preparation?
I used to mainly study from NCERT book and study
material provided by school which had lots of case studies and worksheets.
6.
What Tips and tricks would you like to share with students?
I would like you to make
a mind map because its really helpful . Also concentrate on understanding
subject and then learning it . Headings
are one of the most important thing in Business Studies , as 1/2 a mark is normally there for heading .
7.
In end , Please share your success mantra .
I focused on my strong
and weak points, mainly weak ones and tried to correct them. Making sacrifices
and working beyond the comfort zone will definitely make you achieve a 100 .
Self study and dedication
are key ingredients!! Good luck!
